BIERGARTEN MUSIC SUNDAY

11:30AM – 1PM VIA ROMEN GUITAR DUO

The Via Romen Guitar Duo consists of one of the most prominent Russian seven-string guitar virtuosos with a unique sound that wins the hearts of young and old. Their art, rooted in Russian, Gypsy and Jewish tradition and enriched by Spanish, jazz and Latin cultures, enchants audiences with intricate improvisations, spell binding rhythms, and beautiful melodies. World class virtuoso acoustic guitar mix performed in modern styles with improvisations that will please lovers of tango, flamenco and samba for it’s emotions and temperament, jazz aficionados for the mastery of their solos, and world and folk music lovers for the authentic melodies and roots in traditions. 

1:30PM – 3PM LOST NOMADS

The Lost Nomads are a Middle-Eastern music ensemble located in Raleigh, NC. They have played at a number of venues around central North Carolina including festivals, restaurants, bellydance events, etc. The Lost Nomads were established back in 2008, and have been making the music ever since, and enjoying every minute of it. Their music is featured on the bellydance instructional DVDs “Foundations of Raqs Sharqi: Technique and Isolations for Belly Dance Level 1” and “Fabulous FanveilZZ Volume 2”.

3PM – 4:30PM MAGNOLIA KLEZMER BAND

The Magnolia Klezmer Band has been popular in the Research Triangle since 1996. Klezmer is the upbeat, celebratory music which originated among the Jews of Eastern Europe and emigrated to the new world, America, at the beginning of the 20th century. There, it modernized on encountering Jazz and popular music. Magnolia features 10 instrumentalists and 2 vocalists performing in Yiddish and English, playing music from old world and new, from Moldova to Main Street, all with potent antidepressant properties.

 

5PM – 6:30PM DIFFERENT DRUM

Soulful sambas, majestic Andean melodies, Light & Lively calypsos, and South African Township are some of the sounds Different Drum weaves into performances. Led by multi-instrumentalist, world traveler, and music educator Alex Weiss,this versatile ensemble has been bridging the sounds of Africa and the Americas since 1992.
