We have been serving as the cultural and artistic bridge between the Research Triangle and the International Community for more than 30 years.

Current Job Openings:

Job Description:

The Director of Special Projects is a sub-contractor position for International Focus, Inc.  a 501(c)(3) non-profit based in the Triangle region of North Carolina. This position is responsible for all aspects of running special projects from proposal to completion. As a sub-contractor position, the positions compensation is based on a program basis. 

Responsibilities:

     Programming Duties:

    • Responsible for Open World (COIL – Congressional Office for International Leadership), Professional Fellows Program (US Department of State, American Councils) and other fee for service special projects 
    • Develop and submit grant proposals and budgets for projects 
    • Plan and implement professional training and cultural programs for visiting international students, business entrepreneurs, government officials, and other professionals  
    • Arrange internships for program participants with local area businesses  
    • Provide cross-cultural advising 
    • Organize host homes for international visitors for the duration of their stays 
    • Serve as a liaison between program participants, businesses, and home hosts 
    • Supervise Open World program subcontractors  
    • Accompany visitors to meetings, cultural activities and out of town trips 
    • Maintain accurate programs database to ensure correct statistical accounting 
    • Submit programming and budget reports  

     Community Outreach/Marketing:

    •  Market the organization to Washington, DC and local community leaders. 
    • Develop strategies and maintain good relations with national and local partners. 
    • Develop and cultivate new and existing community resources by accompanying visitors to meetings, meeting one on one with resources, and attending and participating in community events. 
    • Develop specific communication content for promotion/ outreach for projects  

Job Requirements:

  • The position requires the ability to work independently under the general direction of the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors. 
  • The position requires cross-cultural sensitivity and interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, computer proficiency, outstanding organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, strategic, and innovative thinking skills, marketing and promotional skills, ability to contribute ideas, and ability to get timely, effective results.
  • Special Projects Director has a broad understanding of topics and issues in fields such diplomacy, government, law, politics, international affairs, economics, business, media, the social sciences, arts, humanities, education, and professional endeavor. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or Higher.
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred but not required.
  • Attention to detail
  • level headedness and organizational experience.
  • Ability to manage deadlines while maintaining high-quality of work.
  • Work independently, as well as a team player.
  • Ability to work with high level representation of private, public, or non-governmental offices.
  • Ability to pass a background check/

Internship Opportunities:

We also offer internship opportunities for students and recent graduates who are interested in gaining experience in the non-profit sector and contributing to our mission. Our interns work closely with our staff on a variety of projects and initiatives, and gain valuable skills and experience in event planning, program coordination, research, and communications.
